👋

Hey there, I'm Aaron Edmiston, a full-stack software engineer with over 4 years of professional experience. My focus is mostly front-end development, using React (Next.js), TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, and MySQL.

About Me

While pursuing dual degrees in Marketing and International Business Studies at California State University Long Beach, I delved into a world of real-world experiences that shaped my current outlook. It's these adventures that truly built my foundations, adding depth to both my work and life outside the code editor. Even back then, I had an inkling that mixing coding with a splash of adventure and creativity would be my sweet spot.

Fast forward to today—I'm a Full-Stack Software Engineer thriving in NYC. Coding's my forte; JavaScript, React, and Node keep my days buzzing with problem solving and innovation. But life's more than just code. I'm all about nurturing connections and growth, whether it's mentoring junior developers or crafting experiences that blend art, music, and genuine human interaction. And when I'm not coding, I'm plunging into the depths of the ocean, exploring reefs, or soaking up the sun on a beach in Australia. With experiences in 60 countries and a year living the nomad life, each adventure continues to fuel my passion for tech and creativity.

My projects

Rotaready Dashboard

The Dashboard required meticulous planning, hands-on execution, multiple iterations, and a significant learning curve, particularly with React Grid Layout and other cutting-edge technologies. It became a powerful tool for our users, offering a highly customizable, responsive, and visually appealing interface.

Rotaready Events

I spearheaded the development of the Event Planner for Rotaready. I customized React Big Calendar and used GraphQL for precise data retrieval. Through diligent handling of edge cases, I ensured a seamless user experience, resulting in a visually appealing and fully functional planner.

Nomader

Nomader was a full-stack web application that allows users to search for and save their favorite travel destinations. It used Skyscanner's API to find the cheapest flights and users local currency to their destination.

  • React
  • Node
  • Express
  • MySQL
  • REST APIs
  • Heroku

Stripe Home Page

This project was a challenge to make a homage to one of our favorite sites using only CSS and HTML. It was quite difficult because it had a lot of responsiveness, animations, and advanced CSS.
